Control Techniques for Multi-axis Real-time Dynamic Substructuring

چکیده
Real-time substructuring is a novel hybrid method for the dynamic testing of complex engineering structures. This technique involves creating a hybrid model of the entire structure by combining an experimental test piece with the remainder of the structure being modelled numerically. The essence of this technique is to emulate the dynamic behaviour of the complete original structure by using real-time control techniques to join the two substructures together. This paper will focus on control strategies involving delay compensation and synchronization theory on a multi-axis experimental rig commissioned specifically for real-time substructuring. The current application also inspires studies of coupling in real-time.

Monolithic and Partitioned L-stable Rosenbrock Methods for Dynamic Substructure Tests
Real-time testing with dynamic substructuring is a hybrid numerical-experimental technique, the challenge of which is to ensure that both numerical and physical substructures interact in realtime, in order to simulate the behaviour of an emulated structure. With this objective in mind, the development and implementation of partitioned real-time compatible Rosenbrock algorithms are presented in ...
متن کاملA Output-Based Approach for the Control of Dynamically Substructured Systems with Real-Time Finite Element Substructures
Structural tests using dynamic substructuring methods require a robust controller to synchronise the numerical and physical responses, and a stable and accurate algorithm to simulate the numerical components. The proposed new substructuring strategies use real-time finite element methods to guarantee modelling accuracy and output-based controllers to achieve robust synchronisation. Output-based...
متن کاملTheoretical Relations Between Domain Decomposition and Dynamic Substructuring
Domain decomposition methods used for solving linear systems are strongly related to dynamic substructuring methods commonly used to build a reduced model. In this study we investigate some theoretical relations between the methods. In particular we discuss the conceptual similarities between the Schur Complement solvers and the Craig-Bampton substructuring techniques, both for their primal and...

متن کاملEvaluation of the FRF Based Substructuring and Modal Synthesis Technique Applied to Vehicle FE Data
FRF based substructuring (FBS) predicts the dynamic behaviour of a coupled system on the basis of freeinterface FRFs of the uncoupled components. The modal synthesis technique determines the dynamic behaviour of a coupled system on the basis of a normal mode description of the uncoupled components. This paper gives a brief description of the theoretical background of these techniques. When usin...
